What happened at the Zoo During WW2

placeholder gifPrimley's Last Day

At the beginning of the war, the government decided to close the zoo, just in case it got bombed and the animals escaped. On the return of the animals after the war, a bear almost escaped. As they lifted the grizzly bear's cage, the floor broke. They had no choice but to move the bear by walking it from the station to the zoo with the cage still over it. You can imagine how they felt with half a grizzly bear at their feet. They transported him safely though.
