Caught in the Web - Bytes of Torbay's Past

Torbay consists of a group of three coastal towns in the beautiful county of Devon, England, and boasts a long and fascinating history.
This site is an introduction to that history, with many references to the life, times and work of a number of famous people who lived or stayed for a time in the Bay including: Napoleon Bonaparte; Isambard Kingdom Brunel, and his son Henry; Agatha Christie; Oliver Heaviside; Herbert Whitley; William Pengelly; John Lee; Isadora Duncan with her lover Paris Singer, son of Isaac.
There are also references to, Gladstone, Disraeli, Darwin, Nelson and Queen Victoria. In addition, you will find some of the influential families that helped develop the Bay, eg the Cary family and the Singers.
